Cuba is ripe for the gospel. With your partnership, Cru students from Michigan State U were among the first to enter into
Cuba. Years of communism combined with a life-giving free gift have opened the door to Cuba unlike any time in recent history. We partnered with Filter of Hope who has developed revolutionary water filter that removes bacteria, protozoan, and micro-organisms from contaminated water sources making it completely safe to drink for 10 years.
In the course of 7 days, the spring break team visited 180 homes that have no clean water. They installed the filter door-to-door using a bucket. A local church member went with us as well as translators.
When the Cubans witnessed clean water for the first time they could not hold back the tears.
After showing the Cubans how to use the filter, we then asked if we could share a story that’s important to us. Using the analogy of dirty water, a filter, and clean water, we shared how Jesus has changed our life and invited them to receive Jesus into their lives.
180 homes were visited. 149 people accepted Christ.
The Cubans responded with incredible joy when they heard they could have a personal relationship with Jesus. Some responses upon being asked if they wanted to receive Jesus into their life –
“Now is the time for me!”
“Now I can have healing in my heart!”
